The USB recording feature is straightforward: connect via USB to a computer, open Audacity (free), and record in 16-bit/44.1 kHz or 24-bit/48 kHz quality. The included software is basic but functional.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Keeping the stylus clean is essential for optimal sound. The LP120XUSB does not include a stylus brush, so you will need to purchase one separately. The platter and dust cover can be wiped with a microfiber cloth. The belt for 78 RPM should be replaced if it stretches. The direct-drive motor requires no maintenance, but the speed can be calibrated via the pitch slider if needed. Overall, maintenance is minimal but important for longevity.

Common Buyer Complaints

Several users note that the anti-skate dial does not work effectively at lower tracking forces, causing the stylus to skip on some records. The stock cartridge can produce inner groove distortion on louder passages. The plastic platter is a common point of criticism, as it feels less premium than the metal platters on more expensive models. Additionally, the lack of auto-stop means you must manually lift the tonearm at the end of a side, which can be annoying for casual listening.
